My brud-in-law is this week's surfman. He recently arrived for a 5 day visit from the London Branch, after a quick trip to Hollywood. He is working on a documentary, that I personally can't wait to see. T & me were given a preview of the sampler dvd that kept our toes tapping and our attention fixed. Jonathan is very talented and I just know that he has all the makings of an excellent filmmamker. On a side note, I still think we can squeeze "kirk" into the movie somewhere. On a second side note, tell Lisa, Leroy says hi. Thanks for the great visit Johnny, can't wait for you & L to visit our new home in the summer.

15th Surfman Award: Silvija

This week, after 3 years, 2 months, I had my hair cut by Silvija, a Latvian who is so skilled that people travel across countries to have their locks sheared by her. Thank you Silvija, you are so deserving of this weeks Surfman Award. I just could not fathom having my hair cut by a stranger or one of those ultra hip salons where the music is so loud that your ears bleed and the so called stylist that charge $60 plus reek of indifference and disdain. Silvija is such a warm and nice person and so creative. You should see what she can do with furniture! Thanks again Silvija and thank you too beta for your hospitality and humour. Have a great time in latvia, the both of you.

14th Surfman Award : Lia&Jeff

Our friends Lia & Jeff came to spend Easter Weekend and their 6th month anniversary with us and we were very touched that they shared this very special time with us. They are both so nice to be around, and we had such a lovely time, that I made them this week's Surfman award winners...buttons are in the mail! Highlights included, Saturday dimsum, wandering around kensington market, afternoon coffees on College street, burgers & milkshakes at the Lakeview, late night halo challenges and incredible brunches provided by T. Thanks again for coming guys, and we really hope(no pressure) that you move to Toronto to be a permanet part of our crew.

13th Surfman Award : Arthur the Real Estate Agent

This week T & me found our dream house thanks to our real estate agent and friend Arthur. He has the patience of buddah, with a great sense of humor to boot. We had seen about 40 houses give or take, and were beginning to think that we wouldn't find anything in the west end in our price range that had a solid foundation and 3 bedrooms, along with a bit of style. One week ago when we returned from our island vacation, we were surprised to get a message from Art, telling us we had to see this house and that it was perfect for us...and he was right. After some tense negotiation, we got our price. Both T & me were shocked that Art was able to pull it off...he was and is wonderful. We are very grateful and appreciate everything he has done for us. Thank you Art, you are the stuff that Surfmen are made of, thanks for rescuing us and placing us in our beautiful abode.

12th Surfman Award : Smiley's B&B

Smiley's B&B is this weeks Surfman Award winner. This past weekend, T & me decided to get away from the mainland and the pressures of house hunting to enjoy one night, two days on Toronto Island. David Smiley, the owner of this beautiful Bed and Breakfast(see link), was a very gracious host who provided us with not only a wonderful breakfast but some Island charm to go along with our stay. Thank you David, we had a wonderful time and would gladly recommend your B&B to all of our friends. I couldn't resist taking a picture of my classic coaster bike under the Smiley's B&B sign...If all you mainlanders out there need a vacation from the hustle and bustle of the big smoke, call 416-203-8599 for an island getaway.
