138th Surfman Post: The Bloor Cinema

The Bloor Cinema recently opened after a year of under going renovations and new ownership. My friend Sam and I bought memberships and T-shirts to support this wonderful Annex landmark. The above picture shows the first Bloor cinema to open its doors in 1913 under the name Madison Picture Palace. The renovations are quite stylish with a new snack bar, interior upgrade, new seats and sound/projection improvements. I hope the community is as pleased as I am and will support this fantastic independent cinema many years to come. Our first film back was Corman's World, about Movie making legend Roger Corman who gave quite a few Hollywood royalty their first acting and directing jobs. Oh, and I almost forgot, the cinema is part owned by Hot Docs Film Festival group and its partner The Blue Ice Group, opening the way for many domestic and international documentary films to be shown year round. Simply OUTSTANDING!!!!
